National conference on topic: “Environmental challenges and mechanisms for the application of environmental legislation in Albania”

The School of Magistrates in cooperation with OSCE, on 8 May, 2024, at MakAlbania Hotel, organized a national conference on topic:  

“Environmental challenges and mechanisms for the application of environmental legislation in Albania.” 

The conference was organized in two panels. The first panel elaborated problems in the direction of the presentation of the current state and of the most important environmental challenges, analyzing a general view of environmental pollution in the country. 

While, the second panel elaborated problems in the view of criminal – administrative legislation, concretely: 

• Legal Constitutional control for a healthy environment;
• Environmental inspections. The state, statistics and challenges;
• Prosecution of environmental crimes;
• Administrative violations and their trial. Current cases and where exist challenges;
• Connection between environmental crimes, organized crime and money laundering.

The purpose of this activity was: 

• The awareness of institutional actors and of the actors of justice and beyond, on issues of problems in the field of environmental law, as well as the collection of necessary documents that will be used in the field of the professional training of magistrates. 

In the national conference participated representatives of public administration and of civil society, judges and different media.
