It is my privilege to write this tribute for Halim Islami – a lecturer of our School, colleague, teacher, researcher, author of laws, mentor of many generations, husband, father, and a precious friend.  Since yesterday, the father of modern criminal procedure of the Republic of Albania does not live anymore.

In whatever role we knew him, in whatever point of view, he stood as someone special!

Lecturer Islami is one of the founders of the School of Magistrates, one of its first lecturers that gave life to the formation of a whole number of generations of magistrates, one of the first to be engaged directly in the complete reforming of the Albanian judicial system, so much needed since the years  90’.  And he contributed, not simple because he was at work, but full of passion, complete dedication and civilian liability transforming his activity in a national and patriotic mission.

Professional achievements of Prof. Islami were great and impressive. He was a pioneer of reformation, a visionary for what had undertaken to complete, a strong leader versus the determined purpose. Through this personality he passed over challenges and realized the essential objectives brought in time.

But Halim Islami was more than a professional. He was and was perfected as a tactful and efficient mentor, full of wisdom as well.  His door was always opened to listen, to understand, to help dozens and dozens of students and colleagues that today, for sure remember gratefully what gave Prof. Islami for their formation. All generations of colleagues recognize his capacity to listen, to evaluate, to consider them equal and important.

He was the husband and father to follow. All those who knew him closely understood the strong spiritual relationship that that man cared in dedication to plant and grow healthily, exactly the connection with his family. It was the source of peace that reflected his behavior, emotional harmony of his family gave him much more engagement, much more safety, much more intellectual production in the great public service he was having.

While I am writing these lines today, I am not saying to Halim farewell, but simply thank you. Thank you honored Prof. Islami, for all your contribution in the formation and development of the School of Magistrates for your instruction, for your support, for your wisdom. Thank you for lectures, for the memories, for the inspiration. Thank you for being our mentor, our colleague, or friend.

I am sure that the presence of Prof. Islami will continue to influence, because will be present your comments, your lectures continue to be listened your memories continue to inspire us, your legacy continues to shine.

Rest in peace, dear Halim. You will be always remembered, you will miss us, but you w.

Director of the School of Magistrates
