6 October 2025 – Statement

The School of Magistrates, expresses the deep shock on the sad news of the pass away from life of the judge of the Appeal Court, Mr. Astrit Kalaja because of a serious crime committed against him being on duty. This crime took the life of the respected judge, of the colleague with high moral and professional integrity, of the person with high human values, and violated seriously the judicial system in Albania.

State institutions should take all measures that judges and prosecutors be independent, protected and respected. Any attack or comment that violates the figure of magistrate, brings serious and irreversible consequences. 

We express sincere condolences for family members, friends, and colleagues.
